A free workbook

How hard are you making it for someone to buy from you?

Not because your offer is bad. Not because they “don’t see the value”. Sometimes they want the thing. They’re the right person for the thing. And then you make them do quite a lot of work to actually say yes to the thing.

  • ·They can't tell which option they need.
  • ·They've got a question about what's included.
  • ·They need to DM you for the price.
  • ·They're not sure whether it's for someone at their level.
  • ·They finally understand all of that and discover they need to book a call.

Come on. We’ve made this person do quite a lot of admin to give us money.

The reframe

Before you rewrite the sales page again…

I keep seeing people assume that if an offer isn’t selling, they need to explain it better. Sometimes they do.

But sometimes the sales page isn’t the thing I’d change first.

If people keep asking whether it’s right for them, maybe you haven’t made that clear enough. Or maybe you’re trying to sell the same offer to people at completely different stages.

If they keep questioning the price, maybe you haven’t shown them why it’s worth it. Or maybe the offer has been built in a way that makes the price difficult to justify.

If you need three paragraphs to explain what they actually get, maybe the copy needs work. Or maybe you’ve put seventeen things into the offer and now nobody, including you, can explain what the bloody thing is.

You can’t market your way out of an offer problem.

The method

So, is it how you’re selling it, or is it the offer?

You’ll take one offer you already sell and look at it through the questions your buyer is trying to answer before they give you money. Not hypothetically. Use an actual offer. Write the answers down properly too — doing the entire workbook in your head and declaring it all “pretty clear actually” is cheating.

  1. 01Is this actually for me?
  2. 02Do I want this?
  3. 03Do I understand what I'm buying?
  4. 04Why should I believe it'll work for me?
  5. 05Does the price make sense?
  6. 06What am I actually committing to here?
  7. 07And if I say yes, what the hell happens next?

Not a checklist

You don’t need another 10-point offer checklist, quiz or private podcast that leaves you with more questions than you started with. This isn’t about giving your offer a score of 83% and announcing that you’re an Easy Yes Otter or whatever. You’re looking for something much more useful: where does the yes get difficult?
